‘Why link cricket with political relations?’ Misbah-ul-Haq wants Pakistan to travel India for World Cup 2023.

Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq has appealed to the authorities to separate cricket from politics and permit the national team to travel to India for the forthcoming ODI World Cup. He stressed that other sports are not subject to the same level of political interference and suggested that cricket should be treated similarly.

It is worth noting that India and Pakistan have not engaged in bilateral cricket for over a decade due to political tensions. The recent rejection by India of Pakistan’s invitation to the upcoming Asia Cup has sparked discussions about Pakistan’s participation in the ODI World Cup, led by captain Babar Azam.

Misbah to NDTV said โ€œWhen there can be contacts between the two countries in other sports, why not in cricket? Why link cricket with political relations? It is unfair to deprive people of a chance to see their teams play against each other. It is a great injustice to the fans who follow Pakistan and Indian cricket a lot. โ€œCertainly, Pakistan should be playing in the World Cup 2023  even in India. The many times I have played in India, we have enjoyed the pressure and crowds there because it gives you motivation, and conditions in India suit us. Our team has the capability to do well in Indian conditions.โ€
