“Captain has been the only failure”: Murali Kartik on Rohit Sharma’s getting out twice on ducks against Afghanistan.
India secured a decisive 2-0 lead against Afghanistan in the three-match series with a convincing six-wicket victory on Sunday, January 14, at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shivam Dube showcased their dominance with a rapid 92-run partnership in just 42 balls, propelling India to successfully chase down the target of 173 in a mere 15.4 overs.
Despite the overall impressive performance by the team, Captain Rohit Sharma faced setbacks with his second consecutive duck in the series. Unfortunately, Rohit, who had previously been run out in the first T20I, lost his stumps to Fazalhaq Farooqi in the second game. However, cricket commentator Murali Karthik reassured that Rohit’s recent failures shouldn’t be a cause for significant concern, attributing it to his return to the format after an extended period.
Karthik said “The only failure has been the skipper. Two naughts in two games but he wouldn’t be too worried about that. Back in this format after a long time. Back as captain. He was run out in the first game. Tried to hit a big one today and lost his stumps but India have done well.”
