During the third T20I between India and Afghanistan at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, a humorous exchange between India captain Rohit Sharma and umpire Virender Sharma was captured on the stump mic. The incident unfolded before the commencement of the second over of the innings when Rohit Sharma was unaware that his leg side boundary in the previous over had been given as a leg bye by umpire Virender Sharma.
In the banter, Rohit Sharma jokingly remarked, “Arey Viru, pehle wala thigh pad Diya tha kya? Itna bada bat laga hai. Ek toh idhar 2 zero ho gaya hain,” which translates to, “Hey Viru, did you give the previous one as a thigh pad? The bat is so big. Here, it’s become two zeros.”

Regarding the game, India found themselves in a challenging position after losing four quick wickets within the powerplay. Despite opting to bat first, India lost Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Shivam Dube, and Sanju Samson within five overs.
