“You’re close! Keep your head up”- Ab de Villiers gives advice to Dewald Brevis for his poor form in SA20 2024.
Former South African cricket legend AB de Villiers disclosed reaching out to Dewald Brevis amid the young sensation’s challenging stint with MI Cape Town in the SA20 2024 season. Brevis has struggled, accumulating only 28 runs across four games, with a high score of 10 in the recent match against the Paarl Royals.
De Villiers, vocal about being a mentor to the budding South African talent, shared insights on his YouTube channel.
Ab de Villers said “I texted him last night, I said ‘ You’re close! Keep your head up. Keep going one ball at a time.’ He replied with ‘I will do that. Thank you very much’ with a heart emoji.”
“He (Brevis) is in a bit of a hurry. He is a young man and it’s understandable. He has a lot of weight in his shoulders, largely because of me. I am so sorry about that. All these people who put so much attention on him adds to the pressure. He knows how fickle the game of cricket is. It is about millimeters,” added Mr.360
Expressing optimism, De Villiers believes that navigating through this tough phase will ultimately benefit Brevis in the long term. Additionally, former Sri Lankan pace ace Lasith Malinga recently voiced support for the promising youngster.
