“It was a bit tough to believe in the beginning”- Sarfaraz Khan on the moment he realized he was picked for India’s Test team against England

Sarfaraz Khan has earned a spot in India’s squad for the upcoming second Test against England in Visakhapatnam, scheduled to commence on February 2. Revealing that he was initially part of the India A team and preparing to return to the Ranji Trophy, Sarfaraz expressed his elation upon receiving the news of his inclusion.

Having consistently amassed significant runs in domestic cricket, Sarfaraz’s maiden Test call-up brings relief to many in the cricketing community, especially given his role as a replacement for the injured KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja. In a recent interview, Sarfaraz Khan candidly shared the emotions experienced by himself and his family upon learning about his selection for the Indian team, as highlighted in a video published by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on their official website.

Sarfaraz Khan said “I was about to go to play Ranji Trophy and had packed my India A clothes aside. Suddenly I got a call and came to know that I was selected. It was a bit tough to believe in the beginning. But then I called my father as he wasn’t at home and he and the entire family were emotional.”

“I had a dream that my India A teammates were congratulating me and shaking my hand. It was a recurring dream that I will get selected in the Indian team and I am scoring runs. Whatever happens, happens for good. Whenever I play, it will be a dream come true.”
