(Watch) Sadeera Samarawickrama shows a great presence of mind to grab a catch against Afghanistan in the 1st Test.

During the one-off Test between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan in Colombo, Sri Lankan wicket-keeper Sadeera Samarawickrama showcased exceptional skills behind the stumps by executing a remarkable catch to dismiss Rahmat Shah.

Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Sri Lanka made an early breakthrough by removing Ibrahim Zadran in the second ball of the innings. Despite consistent wicket-taking, Rahmat Shah posed a challenge with his fluent half-century.

However, Samarawickrama’s alertness and agility came into play when Shah attempted a paddle sweep off Prabath Jayasuriya’s delivery. Samarawickrama swiftly moved to his left, grasping the ball with his left glove near his shin before securing it with both hands, thus ending Shah’s innings at 91 runs. This brilliant catch left Afghanistan struggling at 155/5 in the 46th over.
