(Watch) Glenn Maxwell smashes a blistering century in the 2nd T20I against West Indies, equals Rohit Sharma record for most 100s in T20Is.

On Sunday, February 11, Australian cricketer Glenn Maxwell joined Indian captain Rohit Sharma in the elite club of players with five centuries in T20 International cricket. Maxwell achieved this milestone during the 2nd T20I match between Australia and the West Indies in Adelaide, equalling Sharma’s world record. The dynamic batter completed his century in just 50 balls, showcasing his exceptional batting prowess.

Maxwell’s feat came during his innings of 120 runs off 55 deliveries, during which he struck an impressive 12 fours and 8 sixes. This century marked his second triple-digit score for Australia in the last three T20Is. Notably, Maxwell had previously scored a century during his 100th T20I match against India in Guwahati on November 28, 2023, where he also equalled Rohit Sharma’s record. However, Sharma briefly reclaimed the top spot on January 17, 2024, when he scored his fifth T20I century against Afghanistan in Bengaluru.

Here is the moment when Glenn Maxwell reached his hundred.

Maxwell’s blistering knock in the second T20I against the West Indies propelled Australia from a precarious position of 64 for 3 in 6.4 overs to a formidable total of 241 runs for the loss of four wickets. He shared a crucial partnership of 95 runs for the fifth wicket with Tim David (31 runs off 14 balls) in just 39 balls.

The ongoing second T20I in Adelaide holds significant importance for the West Indies, as they must win the match to keep the T20I series alive.

With Maxwell and Sharma leading the list of batters with the most centuries in T20Is, Suryakumar Yadav, the top-ranked T20I batter in the world, follows closely with four centuries in 60 matches for India since his T20I debut in March 2021. Overall, three batters have scored three centuries in T20I cricket, highlighting the exceptional talent and prowess displayed by these players on the international stage.
