Mohammed Shami ruled of upcoming IPL 2024 due to knee injury.
Team India and Gujarat Titans (GT) pacer Mohammed Shami will be absent for the entire duration of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) as he is scheduled to undergo surgery on his left ankle in the United Kingdom (UK).
Shami has been grappling with this injury since his memorable 2023 ODI World Cup campaign on home soil. After the conclusion of the tournament, he sought consultations with specialists in Mumbai and London to address the issue. His participation in the tour of South Africa was contingent upon his recovery from the injury. However, as he failed to regain fitness in time, he was unable to participate in the two-match Test series and was subsequently omitted from the ongoing five-match series against England on home turf.
According to a report by PTI, Mohammed Shami underwent specialized injections as part of his treatment regimen. However, since this approach did not yield the desired outcome, surgery has been recommended as the final recourse.
