RCB’s Ellyse Perry created a memorable moment in the WPL’s history during the match between RCBW and UP Warriorz in the WPL 2024 season. In a remarkable display of power hitting, Perry smashed a delivery from off-spinner Deepti Sharma, sending the ball crashing into the side glass of a car placed inside the M. Chinnaswamy stadium by the sponsors. The impact was so forceful that the window shattered instantly.
During the penultimate over of RCB’s innings, Perry confidently stepped down the pitch and unleashed a massive six over wide long-on, aiming towards the area where the sponsored car was displayed. The ball struck the car’s side glass directly, causing it to break apart. While some of Perry’s teammates celebrated the impressive shot, others, like Asha Shobana, were visibly concerned about the damage caused to the car.

Despite the mishap, Perry’s performance was outstanding, contributing a vital 58 runs off 37 balls to RCB’s total. This was complemented by an excellent innings from captain and opener Smriti Mandhana, who scored 80 runs off 50 balls. Sabbhineni Meghana and Richa Ghosh also played crucial cameo roles, helping RCB reach a formidable total of 198 runs.
