India Dethrones Australia To Be No1 Ranked Test Team.

India has regained the number one position in the ICC Men’s Test Team Rankings, surpassing Australia in the process. This change comes after the annual update, which dropped results from the 2019-20 season and included all completed series since May 2020.India’s rating points have moved up from 119 to 121, as their 2-0 defeat to New Zealand in March 2020 is no longer taken into account in the rankings. The assessment of series completed before May 2022 is given a weighting of 50 per cent, while subsequent series are given a weighting of 100 per cent. India’s last stint at the top spot was for a month in December 2021.

In contrast, Australia’s rating points have fallen from 122 to 116 due to their home series wins over Pakistan (2-0) and New Zealand (3-0) in 2019-20 no longer being included in the rankings. Additionally, their 4-0 win over England in 2021-22 has its weighting halved to 50 per cent.It is important to note that rankings are based on a system that takes into account the results of a team’s matches over a period of time, with more recent performances carrying more weight.
