David Warner To Retire After T20I World Cup 2024.
In the lead-up to the highly anticipated World Test Championship (WTC) Final against India, Australian batsman David Warner has attracted attention with his recent retirement announcement. The experienced left-handed player has revealed his plans to conclude his illustrious Test career at home in January 2024, following the series against Pakistan.
David Warner has been an integral member of the Australian Test side since 2011. However, his position in the team has faced scrutiny in the past year and a half due to his below-par performances with the bat. Currently, at 36 years old, Warner is focused on preparing for the pinnacle clash against India, set to commence on June 7 at the Oval.
David Warner in the recent interaction said “You’ve got to score runs. I’ve always said the (2024) T20 World Cup would probably be my final game. I probably owe it to myself and my family – if I can score runs here and continue to play back in Australia – I can definitely say I won’t be playing that West Indies series. If I can get through this (WTC final and ensuing Ashes campaign) and make the Pakistan series, I will definitely finish up then,”
