Ravi Shastri Slams BBCI, Says ‘India or franchise cricket, What is the priority’?

Ravi Shastri, the former coach of the Indian cricket team, has expressed his disappointment with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) following the underwhelming performance of the Men in Blue in the ICC World Test Championship Final against Australia. Shastri has raised concerns about the Indian batsmen’s struggles in the first innings, where they managed to score just 296 runs.

Throughout the initial three days of the World Test Championship Final held at the green-top Oval field, Australia displayed a remarkable batting performance, while the Indian side, led by Rohit Sharma, struggled to match their opponents. With the exception of Ajinkya Rahane, Shardul Thakur, and Ravindra Jadeja, the remaining batsmen failed to counter the Australian attack effectively. As a result, India lost four wickets within a mere 18.2 overs due to the top-order collapse. Shastri made a furious statement slamming BCCI and IPL over national duty priorities

Ravi Shastri said “You must set your priorities, right? What is the priority? India or franchise cricket? You have to decide that. If you say franchise cricket, then forget this (WTC final). If this is important, then as the custodian of the sport, the BCCI are the bosses. There should be a clause in the IPL contract that if they need a player out of the IPL in the interest of India, they have the right to do it,”
