Selectors are likely considering giving Rohit Sharma a rest for either the Test series or the white-ball series against West Indies.

Currently, the Indian cricket team has a one-month break before they resume their bilateral ties. Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, the team will kick off their next World Test Championship (WTC) cycle with an away series against West Indies.

During this multi-format tour, India is scheduled to play two Test matches, three One Day Internationals (ODIs), and five Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). In recent reports, sources within the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have revealed that the selectors are closely monitoring Rohit Sharma’s workload management, and it is likely that he will miss a portion of the tour.

According to the sources, Rohit appeared fatigued during the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the WTC final. As a result, the selectors are considering giving him a rest for either the Test series or the white-ball series against West Indies. Discussions between the selectors and Rohit Sharma are expected to take place soon to determine the best course of action.

If Rohit and the selectors reach an agreement, Ajinkya Rahane may take over the captaincy for the Test matches, which are set to commence on July 12. Furthermore, it is anticipated that the selectors will announce the squad for the West Indies tour on June 27.
