Sarfaraz Khan exclusion from from the national team for the West Indies tour drew criticism from renowned cricket experts and fans . However, BCCI sources attributed the omission to concerns over Sarfaraz’s fitness level and alleged off-field conduct.

Sarfaraz Khan,for Mumbai has showcased impressive performance in the Ranji Trophy over the past three seasons. During the 2019/20 season, he accumulated 928 runs, followed by 982 runs in the 2020/21 season, and 656 runs in the 2021/22 season. BCCI official was asked about Sarfaraz Khan non selection in the West Indies tour.

BCCI official said, “The reason for Sarfaraz Khan’s exclusion is not a cricketing one”.

He also mentioned, “Sarfaraz Khan has to work on his fitness. His conduct on and off the field hasn’t been good. Certain gestures made by him weren’t good. He needs to be disciplined”.
