“Just move on from it” Ben Stokes wants to shift focus on the 3rd Test at Headingley from Baristow Dismissal.

England captain, Ben Stokes, has called on his team to put aside the recent controversy surrounding Jonny Bairstow’s dismissal and concentrate on the upcoming third Test of the Ashes series. Bairstow’s dismissal during the last day of the second Test sparked a heated debate between Australia and England, as he was caught out by Australian wicketkeeper, Alex Carey.

In a surprising turn of events, Carey executed an underarm throw that caught Bairstow out of his crease, believing that the over had ended. However, the umpire ruled Bairstow out, as the ball was still in play, much to the English batter’s dismay.

Following the incident, members of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) expressed their dissatisfaction by booing the Australian team in the Long Room of Lord’s. This action led to the suspension of three MCC members. The stumping saga took another unexpected twist when the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak, publicly supported the English side, further fueling the controversy surrounding Bairstow’s dismissal.

Ben Stokes said “There’s been obviously a lot of noise around the incident last week at Lord’s but, from me as a captain and from the England team, I think the best thing that everyone needs to do is just move on from it,”.”I don’t think we can galvanise as a group any more than we are, to be honest,”
