“You need to play big tournaments as a team”, says Harbhajan Singh on India not winning ICC Trophies.

According to Harbhajan Singh, one of India’s esteemed cricketers, the team’s lack of success in International Cricket Council (ICC) tournaments since 2013 can be attributed to their inability to perform as a cohesive unit. In the past eight ICC knockout matches, including finals and semifinals, Team India has fallen short of clinching a title each time.

In the most recent instance, the Indian cricket team faced defeat in the finals of the 2023 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) against Australia at the Oval. Despite reaching the finals of the WTC event on both occasions since its inception in 2021, India has been unable to secure the coveted trophy. As the cricketing world eagerly awaits the upcoming 2023 ODI World Cup, scheduled to take place in India, this disappointing trend raises concerns and expectations for the Indian team.

Harbhajan singh said “I don’t know, it’s very difficult for me to say what we had and they don’t. I believe players who play for the country, in whichever era they might be playing, their only motive is to play well and win for the nation.”

He further added “We played till the semi-finals in 2015 and 2019, the ICC trophy didn’t come. Maybe the ability to punch back after absorbing the pressure has probably been seen in only one or two players. You need to play big tournaments as a team.”
