“We were dominating and had it played out, I am sure we would have won”, says Harry Brook after the 4th Ashes Test gets washout.
England’s middle-order batter, Harry Brook, expressed his disappointment over the weather conditions in Manchester, which ultimately cost them a potential victory in the fourth Ashes Test. Despite the setback, Brook remains hopeful for a moral victory if England can secure a win in the final match at the Kennington Oval.
The fourth Ashes Test saw persistent showers on Day 5, preventing England from having a fair opportunity to push for a win with only five wickets remaining to be taken. The unfavorable weather conditions dashed England’s chances of leveling the series at 2-2. On Day 4, Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne and Mitchell Marsh had propelled their team’s chances with a crucial 103-run partnership.
In a post-match interview with Sky Sports, Harry Brook emphasized that England had a real chance of winning if they had more time to play in Manchester. The Yorkshire batter firmly believes that the team would have come out victorious if not for the weather interruptions
Harry Brook said “We were dominating the game last week so if the game had played out, I would like to think we would have won. So if we can win this week, yeah it can be a moral victory. We were thinking that (we deserve something) last week when it was pouring down in Manchester. There isn’t much to be said, but this week we will go out there, play the same way and try to get a victory. We were dominating and had it played out, I am sure we would have won.”
