Team India has resumed its preparations for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 with the commencement of the three-ODI series against West Indies on July 27 in Barbados. Ahead of the series opener, discussions were centered around India’s team combination, considering the absence of key players like KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, and Jasprit Bumrah due to injuries.
The selection of the wicketkeeper was of particular interest to fans and experts, with Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan being the options. Ultimately, the team management chose Ishan Kishan for the playing XI, even though he is typically a top-order batter, and the opening slots are already occupied by Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. As per the official team sheet shared by the BCCI, Kishan is slated to bat at No.4, followed by Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav. The actual batting position of the left-hander during the match is yet to be confirmed.
