“Neither of us could’ve achieved what we have without the other”: James Anderson opens up on playing along Stuart Broad.

Stuart Broad’s recent announcement of retirement from all formats of cricket came as a surprise to his long-time friend and teammate, James Anderson. Despite the unexpected decision, Anderson has been supportive of Broad’s choice. In a heartwarming moment during the fifth Test, both players walked out to bat together for one last time, receiving a warm reception from the crowd and the Australian team. Reflecting on that emotional moment, Anderson expressed that it was a special experience, and he considers himself fortunate to have been a part of their remarkable journey.

Over the years, the iconic duo has collectively taken an impressive 1037 wickets in Test cricket while playing together. As they approach the end of the Ashes 2023 series, they aim to add a few more wickets to their tally, helping England to finish the series on equal terms.

James Anderson to Sky Sports said “I was a little bit shocked when he told me but I’ve to respect his (Stuart Broad) decision. He was very clear on what he wants to do. Yesterday morning was really special, going to walk out with him on the field watching his last ball in Test match cricket for six. I thought the crowd was amazing, the ovation he got was incredible and I felt really lucky to be out there and experience it.”

“If we put one photo in our house of our careers, that will probably be that one. We loved playing together. Neither of us could’ve achieved what we have without the other. Yeah, it’s been incredibly special and I’ll definitely miss him.”
