“Lose even to Kenya but not to Pakistan”, Anil Kumble on India-Pakistan clashes.

Anil Kumble, the former Indian leg-spinner renowned for his exceptional performances against Pakistan, has highlighted the significance of matches against the arch-rivals and the sentiments associated with them. Despite the intense rivalry, Kumble emphasized the need to approach matches against Pakistan with the same preparation and focus as any other game.

While the last bilateral series between India and Pakistan took place during the 2012-2013 season, the two cricketing powerhouses have continued to face each other in ICC events and the Asia Cup. In the current year, there’s a high likelihood of multiple clashes between the two teams. The initial encounter is slated to take place in the Asia Cup on September 2, and subsequent meetings could arise based on their progress in the tournament. Furthermore, a significant clash between India and Pakistan is also expected in the upcoming ODI World Cup, scheduled for October 14 in Ahmedabad.

Anil Kumble at a launch said “In our times, the word was ‘lose even to Kenya but not to Pakistan’. There was pressure and expectation on the players. That’s how the matches between India and Pakistan are being played and the key is to treat it as just another match.”
