“Once I saw the pitch, I said Gill will hit”, Aakash Chopra on Shubman Gill scoring fifty on a flat pitch in 4th India vs West Indies T20I.

Aakash Chopra has commended Shubman Gill for his impressive performance on a flat pitch during the fourth T20I encounter between India and the West Indies. In the match held at Lauderhill, Florida on August 12, the West Indies elected to bat first, setting a target of 179 runs for India. Gill took advantage of the favorable conditions and played a significant role, scoring 77 runs off 47 balls. His contribution aided the Indian team, led by Hardik Pandya, in securing a convincing nine-wicket victory with three overs to spare, thereby leveling the five-match series.

In a video analysis shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra expressed his appreciation for Shubman Gill’s performance. He revealed that he had anticipated Gill’s successful outing upon observing the nature of the pitch. Chopra had previously predicted that Gill would excel in the match.

Chopra said “We reached Florida and got an absolutely flat pitch and in such a case – ‘Gill hai ki manta nahin’, you get a feeling like that when you see Gill on such pitches. It was a slightly Ahmedabad-like feel. Once I saw the pitch, I said Gill will hit and he did that.”
