“He panics a bit under pressure”- Shoaib Akhtar on Rohit Sharma as Indian Team Captain.
Team India has faced a significant dilemma concerning its captaincy in recent times. Over the past few years, the team has undergone several captaincy changes in an attempt to find the right fit. Renowned batsman Virat Kohli led the team for a notable period before the reins were handed over to Rohit Sharma. Additionally, versatile all-rounder Hardik Pandya has also taken on the responsibility of leading the Indian team in white ball cricket.
Shoaib Akhtar, a former pace bowler from Pakistan, has consistently expressed his admiration for Rohit Sharma.Akhtar recently shared his observations about Rohit Sharma’s captaincy.Akhtar shared his perspective that Rohit occasionally exhibits signs of unease when confronted with high-pressure situations. He voiced his belief that Rohit possesses greater natural talent compared to even Virat Kohli. Nevertheless, Akhtar pointed out that assuming the leadership role within the Indian team has not proven to be the ideal fit for Rohit.
Akhtar said “Rohit is a great guy. But I don’t think he should have taken the captaincy. He panics a bit under pressure. He is perhaps more talented than even Virat Kohli and has all the shots. But does captaincy suit him? I question myself most of the time. But he will have the home crowd behind him and has the ability to win the World Cup,”
