“It’s not Virat’s fault if others can’t play at No. 4” – Aakash Chopra on India’s persisting No.4 problem.

Aakash Chopra has expressed his opinion that Virat Kohli should not be assigned the No. 4 batting position solely due to the inability of other players to perform well at that spot. As India prepares for the upcoming Asia Cup and World Cup, Chopra suggests that the batting order should ideally feature Kohli at No. 3, followed by Shreyas Iyer at No. 4, and KL Rahul at No. 5.

However, given the possibility of KL Rahul being unavailable due to an injury, there might be a need for adjustments. If Rahul is unable to recover in time, Chopra believes that Ishan Kishan might be placed in the top three, which could result in Kohli moving down to accommodate the situation.

Chopra conveyed his thoughts through a video shared on his YouTube channel. He emphasized that it’s important to allow players like Kishan and Shubman Gill to occupy their preferred batting positions, rather than making Kohli bat at No. 4 out of necessity.

Aakash Chopra said “Why do you want to change? No doubt the best place for Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan is to open. It should not be that you give Shubman and Ishan their best positions, but just because Virat Kohli can play down the order, you don’t think what is the best position for him.”

“I understand that when you make the team’s batting order, it’s not about justice, you think about what is right for the team. I am convinced that Virat Kohli’s form is important for India. It’s not Virat’s fault if others can’t play at No. 4.” the opener added.
