The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken steps to address a recent incident involving national team players, particularly star batsman Virat Kohli, who shared his Yo-Yo test score on social media. Regarded as sensitive and classified information, the BCCI has provided a verbal caution to players, advising them against disclosing such details on their social media platforms.
As India’s cricket team embarks on their journey towards the crucial Asia Cup 2023 campaign, they are presently engrossed in a comprehensive five-day skill-enhancement camp located in Alur, Karnataka. Ahead of the commencement of this training camp, players were required to undergo the rigorous ‘Yo-Yo’ fitness test, which plays a pivotal role in gauging their physical readiness for the upcoming ACC event.In a recent development, the former captain of the Indian team, Virat Kohli, posted an image on his Instagram story, divulging his individual Yo-Yo test score.
Kohli posted a story on his Instagram with caption “The happiness of finishing the Yo Yo test between the dreaded cones. 17.2 done.”
Despite Kohli’s intentions, this action was not well received by the BCCI, prompting the issuance of a verbal warning to the entire player cohort. The directive from the BCCI highlights the significance of refraining from sharing confidential information on public platforms due to the potential breach of contractual obligations.A notable BCCI official conveyed, “Players have been verbally advised to exercise caution in posting any content of a confidential nature on their social media accounts. While sharing training-related images is acceptable, broadcasting test scores can potentially infringe upon contractual agreements.”
