World Cup 2023 warm-up match Pakistan Vs New Zealand 2 to be played behind closed doors.
In a significant development leading up to the 2023 World Cup, scheduled to kick off on October 5th in Ahmedabad, it has been decided that the warm-up match between Pakistan and New Zealand on September 29 in Hyderabad will be held without spectators in attendance. This decision comes as a result of concerns regarding inadequate security arrangements for the fixture.
Earlier, the city police had formally requested the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) to consider postponing the warm-up match. This request was made due to the police force’s inability to muster sufficient security personnel during the period when festivals like Ganesh Visarjan and Milan-Un-Nabi would be taking place. These festivals are slated to conclude on September 28, just one day before the scheduled match.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had previously adjusted the match schedule once, but in this instance, the board declined to make further changes to the event. As a result, the decision was made to conduct the Pakistan vs. New Zealand warm-up match behind closed doors, with no spectators allowed in the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
