Watch Mohammad Nawaz gets run out in a funny way, in the Pakistan Vs Netherlands World Cup match
In the second match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, Pakistan faced off against the Netherlands at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on Friday, October 06. The Netherlands won the toss and opted to field, putting Pakistan in to bat. However, Pakistan struggled with their batting, managing to score only 286 runs before being bowled out.
The standout performance of the Dutch side came from Bas de Leede, who bowled exceptionally well, finishing with figures of 4/62 in his nine overs.
During Pakistan’s innings, an unusual incident occurred in the 47th over when Mohammad Nawaz was run out. It happened when Shaheen Afridi attempted a reverse sweep off a delivery by Colin Ackerman. Unfortunately, the ball hit Afridi’s pad and deflected towards short fine leg. Seeing a chance for a single, Mohammad Nawaz left his crease but was quickly sent back by Afridi. However, Ackerman failed to collect the ball at the non-striker’s end, leading to overthrows. The Dutch spinner, determined to seize the opportunity, swiftly retrieved the ball and accurately threw it into the stumps at the striker’s end, resulting in Nawaz being declared out, and Pakistan lost their ninth wicket with a score of 267.
Pakistan’s innings got off to a shaky start, as they found themselves struggling at 38/3 after just 9.1 overs. Fakhar Zaman, Imam ul Haq, and Babar Azam all departed early, leaving Pakistan in a precarious position at the beginning of their innings.
