“Not ruled out yet” – Rohit Sharma gived update of Shubman Gill’s recovery ahead of India Vs Australia 2023 World Cup clash.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma provided an update on star opener Shubman Gill, who reportedly tested positive for dengue fever. Rohit mentioned that although Gill is currently not feeling well, he has not been ruled out of their upcoming match against Australia in Chennai, scheduled for Sunday, October 8.
Shubman Gill has had an outstanding 2023, particularly in ODIs, where he has amassed an impressive 1230 runs and scored five centuries. His potential absence from the team could pose a significant setback for the Indian cricket team.
However, Rohit Sharma emphasized the importance of Gill’s full recovery and expressed his reluctance to rush the young opener back into action from a captain’s perspective. During a pre-match press conference, Rohit Sharma conveyed the following message to reporters:
“Gill is not feeling well, giving him every chance to see how he feels. Not ruled out yet. Shubman Gill is sick, I feel for him. I want him to be well. As a human being first, not as captain. He is a young boy, has fit body and he will recover.”
