“Universe Boss is Universe Boss” – Rohit Sharma’s after breaking Chris Gayle record o most sixes in International cricket.

Rohit Sharma expressed his respect for the legendary Chris Gayle, the ‘Universe Boss,’ following his remarkable achievement of breaking the world record for hitting the most sixes in men’s international cricket. The Indian captain achieved this milestone during the 2023 World Cup match against Afghanistan in Delhi, where he delivered an outstanding performance by scoring 131 runs from 84 balls, including 16 fours and five maximums.

The record-breaking moment occurred when Rohit Sharma smashed his 554th career six. This particular shot was a perfectly executed pull against the Afghan bowler Naveen ul Haq. With this feat, Rohit surpassed Gayle’s previous record of 553 sixes, a record achieved over 551 innings, in just his 473rd innings.

Rohit’s exceptional performance in the match against Afghanistan was a crucial factor in India’s victory, earning him the well-deserved title of Player of the Match.

Rohit in special chat on BCCI TV said “Universe Boss is Universe Boss,” Rohit told the BCCI. “Obviously, I have taken a leaf out of his books. Over the years, we have seen him. Such a six-hitting machine he is, wherever he plays. We wear the same jersey. Number 45. Number 45 has done it, I am sure he’s happy.”

In addition to acknowledging his recent achievement, Rohit also shared insights into the early stages of his journey as a prolific six-hitter, saying

“When I started playing, I never thought I’d be able to hit sixes, let alone that many sixes… obviously there has been a lot of work that’s gone in over the years. So I am quite happy with the work I have done.”
