BCCI announces sqaud for South Africa tour; Rohit and Virat rested from white ball, Kl Rahul to led in ODIs, Surya in T20IS.
The BCCI selectors have unveiled the squads for the upcoming South Africa tour, with Suryakumar Yadav leading the T20I team and KL Rahul captaining the one-day side. In Tests, Rohit Sharma will assume captaincy. An official BCCI statement clarified that Rohit and Virat Kohli will skip the white-ball leg, while Mohammed Shami’s availability is contingent on fitness due to ongoing medical treatment.
Ravindra Jadeja is appointed deputy to Suryakumar in the T20I squad, and Deepak Chahar secures a spot as a bowling all-rounder. ODI selections include Sanju Samson and Rajat Patidar, with Sai Sudharsan earning a place. Notably, Rohit and Kohli are set for the Test matches, and the red-ball squad welcomes back Shreyas Iyer and Jasprit Bumrah post their injury recoveries. However, Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara miss out.
India is scheduled to play three T20Is, three ODIs, and two Tests in South Africa from December 10 to January 7.
