“Only one name comes to my mind” – Ashish Nehra on Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s getting ignored for the South Africa tour.

Following the conclusion of India’s ongoing T20I series against Australia, the team is gearing up for a challenging tour to South Africa. This upcoming tour involves a multi-format series comprising three ODIs, three T20Is, and two Test matches against the Proteas.

A noteworthy aspect of this series is the appointment of three different captains across formats. KL Rahul will lead the ODI squad, Suryakumar Yadav will helm the T20I squad, and Rohit Sharma will take charge of the Test side. This marks the first instance of such a diverse captaincy setup in the Indian team.

Expressing his views on the varied leadership roles and squad compositions, former Indian pacer Ashish Nehra weighed in on the selections. Nehra also shared his opinion that experienced pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar could have been a valuable addition to the squad.

Nehra said “I am not at all surprised that the selectors have picked three different teams. Pretty much everyone’s name has come. There might be hardly any player who is there or thereabouts whose name is not there. Only one name comes to my mind, because you are going to South Africa, and you have picked a lot of fast bowlers, and that name is Bhuvneshwar Kumar. I understand that you have other new-ball options, you have Arshdeep Singh, and Mukesh Kumar is playing.”
