“Always dreamt of playing for RCB when IPL started” – KL Rahul talks on playing with RCB.

Senior Team India batter and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain, KL Rahul, has shared his longstanding desire to play for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) since the inception of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Hailing from Bangalore himself, Rahul emphasized the profound connection he feels with RCB, considering it a franchise close to his heart.

Over the course of his IPL career, the 31-year-old batsman has donned the jerseys of multiple teams. He was part of the RCB squad in 2013 and 2016. Subsequently, Rahul played for Punjab Kings (PBKS) from 2018 to 2021, before taking on the role of captain for Lucknow Super Giants in the last two IPL seasons.

In a recent interview, Rahul shed light on the special bond he shares with Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Kl Rahul (to SG cricket) said “RCB gave me the opportunity to showcase my talent when I was young. I am also from Bangalore, so I always dreamt of playing for RCB when the IPL started. I was lucky that I got to play for them for a few years, so RCB is very close to my heart.”

During his tenure with RCB, Rahul featured in 19 matches, amassing a total of 417 runs at an impressive average of 37.90 and a formidable strike rate of 145.29, including four half-centuries. Notably, in the 2016 IPL season, he showcased his batting prowess by scoring 397 runs in 14 games at an average of 44.11 and an outstanding strike rate of 146.49, with a highest score of 68*.
