‘After the World Cup, Hardik Pandya Should Take Over White Ball Captaincy’ :Ravi Shastri.
After India’s defeat in the World Test Championship (WTC) final, discussions have emerged regarding Rohit Sharma’s captaincy. While the 36-year-old will continue to lead the Indian team during the upcoming West Indies tour, former Indian coach Ravi Shastri believes that Hardik Pandya should be considered as the next white-ball captain. With the WTC 2023-25 cycle set to commence under Rohit’s captaincy, Shastri suggests that Pandya could take over the reins in ODI and T20I cricket, particularly after the upcoming ODI World Cup.
Ravi Shastri, the former Indian coach, has voiced his opinion on the captaincy situation. He suggests that Rohit Sharma should lead India during the upcoming ODI World Cup, but afterwards, Hardik Pandya could take on the role as the full-time captain in ODI and T20I cricket. Pandya has already captained the T20I side in Rohit’s absence since the T20 World Cup last year.
Ravi Shastri said “Let’s be clear. His body (Hardik) cannot cope with Test cricket. After the World Cup, I feel he should take over captaincy in white-ball cricket. Rohit should lead India in the World Cup, no question there,”
