“At least try to do something”, Aakash Chopra hope a push from West Indies player ahead of the 2nd Test.
Former Indian cricketer and cricket analyst, Aakash Chopra, has expressed his desire to see more intent from the West Indies bowlers and batters in the upcoming second Test against India. The two-match series will conclude with the final game at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad, commencing on Thursday, July 20.
In the series opener, the West Indies, led by Kraigg Brathwaite, suffered a crushing innings and 141-run defeat. The team’s lackluster performance in the first Test has left them eager to redeem themselves and put up a better fight in the second match.
In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra elaborated on his expectations from the West Indies bowling attack. He pointed out that, with the exception of occasional spells from Alzarri Joseph and Kemar Roach, the seamers failed to show enough determination and effort during the first Test.
Chopra said “I want a little intent from the West Indies and firstly a slightly better pitch. I want a little intent in bowling because nothing happens with three-three over spells. Push yourself a little more.”
He moreover added “You bowl three-four over spells in T20s. In Test cricket, even if you are a fast bowler, five or six overs – just push yourselves. At least try to do something. Barring Alzarri Joseph and Kemar Roach once apiece, it didn’t seem like you pushed yourselves at all.”
