“At this point in time, if KL Rahul becomes available, I don’t see Samson in the World Cup team”- Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra does not foresee Sanju Samson making it into India’s ODI World Cup squad if KL Rahul is fit and ready for selection. Currently, KL Rahul is in the recovery process following thigh surgery, and his availability for the upcoming Asia Cup and subsequent World Cup remains uncertain. Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan participated in all three matches of the recently concluded ODI series against the West Indies, while Sanju Samson had the opportunity to showcase his skills in two games.
In a recent video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra was posed with the question of whether Sanju Samson could secure a permanent spot in the Indian team or if his career trajectory might resemble Ambati Rayudu’s. To this, Chopra provided his insights.
Chopra said “At this point in time, if KL Rahul becomes available, I don’t see him (Samson) in the World Cup team. I don’t think he will be seen in the Asia Cup team as well.”
“However, if KL Rahul is not there, you might even see him playing in the Asia Cup and you will definitely see him in the team, and probably even for the World Cup. It all depends on KL Rahul’s availability.”
