“Been eight years, definitely going back”- Mitchell Starc to return for IPL in 2024.
Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has expressed his keen interest in making a return to the Indian Premier League (IPL) next year. As he gears up for the T20 World Cup scheduled to take place in the West Indies and the USA in June 2024, Starc views the IPL as the ideal platform to fine-tune his skills ahead of this marquee event.
Starc’s last appearance in the IPL was back in 2015, and he is excited about the prospect of rejoining the league, stating that he is definitely going to play in the IPL next year. The fast bowler has prior experience in the IPL, having made 27 appearances over two seasons for Royal Challengers Bangalore and initially signing with the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2018, although he had to withdraw due to injury.
Starc said in chat with the Willow Talk Cricket Podcast said “Look, it’s been eight years. I’m definitely going back in [next] year, “So a good opportunity to see if anyone’s interested in the IPL, then lead into the T20 World Cup. And it’s somewhat of a quiet winter next yearโฆin comparison to this winter, so I think a perfect opportunity to put my name in.”
“I try not to look too far ahead with anything, not just get to 100 [Tests], I’d like to be good enough to be picked for 100 Tests, and then you look at the one-day format, it’s sort of four years in between World Cups, so where do I see myself in that mix? But I’ve got to get to the end of this World Cup first,โ Starc added.
