“Can’t think of any great batsman who never struggled”, Curtly Ambrose feels Virat Kohli can serve Indian cricket for more years.

In a recent interview, former West Indian fast bowler Curtly Ambrose discussed Virat Kohli’s recent struggles in international cricket, noting that such periods of difficulty are not uncommon for even the best batsmen. Ambrose, recognizing Kohli’s status as a top-quality batter, expressed his belief that Kohli has the ability to continue playing at a high level for the next couple of years.

Kohli had faced a challenging phase in his international cricket career, marked by a notable lack of centuries over a span of more than 1000 days. However, this dry spell came to an end during the Asia Cup last year, where he managed to score a century in a T20I match against Afghanistan. Building on this breakthrough, Kohli’s performance in the subsequent T20 World Cup was exceptional. He emerged as the leading run-scorer in the tournament, accumulating an impressive 296 runs across six matches.

Speaking on the Revsportz platform, Ambrose shared his insights on Kohli’s situation, asserting that he remains a crucial asset for the Indian team.

Curtly Ambrose said “He’s still a very good cricketer, a quality batsman. Every great batsman goes through patches where they struggle to score runs. I can’t think of any great batsman who never struggled in international cricket. Virat’s a special player. He’s had his time where he has struggled a bit but he seems to be getting back into form.”

He more added “He scored a half century in the first Test against West Indies and then he scored a century. He looks to be in better form, very fluent and looks to be the Virat Kohli of old. He can still serve Indian cricket for a couple of years to come.”
