“Don’t think there’s a problem with the youngsters being not humble” – Shubman Gill talks on players attitude.

Team India batsman Shubman Gill has dismissed the notion that Rohit Sharma was reserved in praising Yashasvi Jaiswal after his remarkable performance in Rajkot, suggesting that Rohit aimed to instill humility in the young player.

Jaiswal showcased his prowess by scoring a brilliant double hundred in the second innings of the third Test in Rajkot, marking his second 200-plus score in successive matches. During a media interaction following India’s record 434-run victory in the match, Rohit chose not to delve extensively into the opener’s performance, stating, ‘let him play.’

Addressing questions at a pre-match press conference before the fourth Test in Ranchi, Gill was asked about Rohit’s measured praise for Jaiswal, with speculation that it might be to prevent the youngster from developing an overconfident attitude.

Shubman Gill in press conference said “I don’t think there’s a problem with the youngsters being not humble. We have seen Jaiswal scoring back-to-back double hundreds. If you don’t have it in you, you won’t be able to do that. There aren’t many people in world Test cricket who have scored back-to-back double hundreds. He definitely is a sensational player. We have seen it over 8-9 Tests.”

“I don’t think there’s any conscious decision. Maybe Rohit bhai didn’t want to talk about it at that point of time.”

Jaiswal has enjoyed a sensational beginning to his Test career, accumulating 861 runs in seven matches at an impressive average of 71.75, including three centuries and two half-centuries
