England ends Day 2 dominating as Ben Duckett plays a stellar knock.

On Day 2 of the 3rd Test at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot, England opener Ben Duckett showcased an aggressive approach against India’s renowned bowling attack, reaching his century off just 88 deliveries. The left-handed batsman achieved this milestone against Mohammed Siraj with a boundary to the mid-on region in the 26th over of the innings.

Duckett’s century marked the second-fastest Test hundred by an Englishman, demonstrating his remarkable form. His half-century came off a mere 39 deliveries, following India’s imposing total of 445 runs

While Duckett has frequently contributed to half-century partnerships with Zak Crawley, he had a subdued series until his century. His 88-ball century also ranks as the second-fastest on Indian soil against the hosts, with Adam Gilchrist’s 84-ball ton holding the top spot.

Another highlight of the day was Ravichandran Ashwin claiming his 500th Test wicket after dismissing Zak Crawley for 15. Mohammed Siraj, who returned for this Test after missing the 2nd match in Vishakhapatnam, broke the 83-run partnership between Duckett and Ollie Pope by dismissing Pope for 39. In the final over of the day, Duckett survived a close call from Ashwin, with the hosts unsuccessfully reviewing an LBW shout as the ball had pitched outside leg-stump.
