“Had never thought that I would score 183” – Virat Kohli reflectes back on his career best ODI knock against Pakistan in Asia Cup.

Star Team India’s prominent batter, Virat Kohli, recently shared his thoughts on his remarkable innings during the 2012 Asia Cup match against Pakistan in Mirpur. Kohli, who scored an impressive 183 runs off 148 balls, expressed his surprise at his own achievement, admitting that he never imagined achieving such a high score in an ODI match.

Looking back on the innings, Kohli mentioned that he felt like he was in a unique and focused mindset on that day, which contributed to his outstanding performance. The match, which was the fifth game of the Asia Cup 2012, witnessed Pakistan setting a formidable total of 329/6, with Mohammad Hafeez and Nasir Jamshed delivering exceptional centuries as openers.

Reliving memories of the special knock, Kohli said on the ‘Follow The Blues’ show on Star Sports that he had not planned anything specific and was playing more on instinct.

Kohli remarked “I had never thought that I would score so many runs in an innings and that too while chasing – 183. That day I was in a different zone naturally. I had not planned anything and was just playing instinctively. As the match progressed, my zone became stronger.”

“Later on, I realized that maybe I surprised myself a little bit. I felt like I can score hundreds, but to score 180 was a big thing for me, especially against a side like Pakistan with so much on the line on that game,” he further added.
