Harry Brook opts out from Test Series against India due to personal reasons.

In anticipation of the imminent India vs England Test series starting on January 25 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, the England squad faces a significant setback with star batter Harry Brook’s unexpected departure. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) revealed that the 24-year-old has returned home for personal reasons and won’t be rejoining the team in India.

During this challenging time, the Brook family has requested privacy, and the ECB urges both the media and the public to respect their personal space. To fill the void left by Brook, Dan Lawrence has been named as his replacement in the squad. Brook has made a remarkable impact since his Test debut against South Africa in September 2022, amassing 1181 runs from 20 innings at an impressive average of 62.15. His stellar performance includes four centuries and seven fifties, showcasing a remarkable strike rate of 91.76

Noteworthy is Brook’s notable contribution during the Ashes 2023, where he scored 363 runs from nine innings at an average of 40.33, securing four fifties. His pivotal knock of 75 (93) in the fourth innings of the third Test in Leeds played a crucial role in England’s successful chase of 251, marking their first win of the series. Additionally, Brook’s innings of 85 (91) in the first innings of the fifth Test at the Oval helped England reach a total of 283.
