“His place should also be questioned”, Piyush Chawla prefers Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul and not Shreyas Iyer in India’s middle order.
The veteran Indian spinner, Piyush Chawla, has expressed his perspective regarding the composition of the Indian cricket team’s middle order. He has thrown his support behind Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul over Shreyas Iyer in India’s World Cup squad. This noteworthy development follows the announcement of a 15-member squad for the highly anticipated event by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) All India Senior Men’s Selection Committee on September 5.
Following the squad’s unveiling, cricket enthusiasts and members of the cricketing community promptly began sharing their opinions on the chosen lineup. Piyush Chawla also joined the discourse by offering his insights on the team’s composition. Notably, he raised questions regarding Shreyas Iyer’s inclusion while advocating for Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul to take up pivotal roles in the middle order.
Piyush Chawla said “We are talking about both of them, why not Shreyas Iyer? Shreyas Iyer’s place should also be questioned. Ishan (Kishan) cannot remain in the reserves now because of the way he has batted in the top order. People had a question about how he would bat in the middle order and the way he batted in the middle order after coming into bat in a tough situation, he is going through good form and he solves the problem of the absence of a left-hander in the middle order, which we often talk about.”
