Former South African captain AB de Villiers conveyed his disappointment regarding the absence of a third Test match between India and Proteas. The initial contest in Centurion saw the hosts emerging victorious, whereas India secured a win in the second match in Cape Town, resulting in a 1-1 series tie that prevented either team from claiming overall victory.

De Villiers expressed apprehensions about the future of red-ball cricket, highlighting the perceived challenges and issues affecting Test cricket. According to him, the current state of affairs in Test cricket is a cause for concern, as he believes that things are not progressing as they should.

AB de Villiers on his YouTube channel said “I am very upset about the fact that we didn’t get a third Test. Once again you got to blame T20 cricket around the world, the ICC, the scheduling. I don’t know who is there to blame. All I know is something is not right. If you want to see more Test cricket things are gonna have to change. There will be enough cricket between India and Australia and England, I can tell you that. But if you want to see all the teams in the world competing to see who is the best Test team in the world, something will have to change.”
