“I can’t understand why India prepared a pitch like this”: Stuart Broad on India trailing behind England in 4th Test.
On the first day of the fourth Test against India, England faced early setbacks, losing three wickets but managed to reach 353 runs in their first innings. Joe Root showcased his prowess with an unbeaten 122, steering England out of trouble, while Ollie Robinson’s 58 provided crucial support against India’s formidable bowling attack.
India struggled in response, losing key wickets early. Despite a valiant 73 by Yashasvi Jaiswal, the hosts faltered, with Shoaib Bashir, in his second Test, dismantling India’s middle order, claiming four wickets on Day 2. England’s dominance raised questions about the pitch’s nature, especially after England skipper Ben Stokes fell victim to Ravindra Jadeja due to unexpected bounce. Former cricketer Stuart Broad questioned India’s decision to prepare a rank-turner, given their success on flatter surfaces.
Stuart Broad on X wrote “I mainly tweet about England- but looking at India. They’re an amazing team on flat Test pitches in India where their spinners skill comes into it & they out bowl other teams. Playing on pitches that roll along the floor brings in the opposition so much more. I can’t understand why they’ve prepared a pitch like this?”
At the close of Day 2, India trailed by 134 runs, relying on Dhruv Jurel and Kuldeep Yadav to stage a comeback on Day 3 and keep their hopes alive in the match
