Former Indian pacer S Sreesanth has cast doubt on the legitimacy of Shaheen Shah Afridi’s dismissal of star batter Virat Kohli in the Asia Cup 2023 match held in Kandy on September 2. It’s worth noting that the game between India and Pakistan ended in a draw due to rain, with both teams sharing the points.

Shaheen Shah Afridi claimed the crucial wicket of Virat Kohli, dismissing him for just four runs. In this instance, a good-length delivery struck Kohli’s bat before deflecting onto the stumps. Expressing his views on the dismissal of the former Indian captain, Sreesanth remarked that it was solely a stroke of luck for Pakistan that led to the wicket, and he does not regard it as a genuine dismissal. The 40-year-old also expressed his anticipation for the next encounter between India and Pakistan in the ongoing tournament.

Sreesanth said “It was unfortunate for India. Pakistan were lucky to get Virat Kohli’s wicket because it was an inside edge. I don’t count it as a wicket. I know him personally, which is why I know what would have been going through his mind after seeing Pakistan’s celebration. I am just waiting for the next India-Pakistan match.”
