“I don’t know whether he would like to do that role”- AB de Villiers on Virat Kohli position in 2023 World Cup.

Former renowned South African cricketer AB de Villiers has expressed his belief that Virat Kohli could serve as an excellent option for the No. 4 position in India’s lineup during the upcoming ODI World Cup. De Villiers lauds Kohli’s ability to adapt his gameplay according to the match situation and shift gears, potentially making him a pivotal asset in the team’s middle order.

Having shared a strong camaraderie with Kohli and having played alongside him for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, De Villiers acknowledges that Kohli’s prime batting position is No. 3. However, he is keen on Kohli embracing the responsibility of the No. 4 slot if the team’s needs dictate such a move.

In a recent video on his YouTube channel, AB de Villiers shared his thoughts regarding Virat Kohli’s optimal batting position for the World Cup.

Ab de Villiers said “I would be a big supporter of that. I feel Virat is the perfect No. 4, can keep the innings together and play any kind of role in the middle order. I don’t know whether he would like to do that role. But at the end of the day, if the team needs you to do something and play a role, you got to put your hand up and go for it.”
