“I feel we might not see Rishabh Pant in the next IPL”, says Ishant Sharma.

Star Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant is on the road to recovery after sustaining injuries from a car accident in December last year. Following a significant surgery in May 2023, Pant has resumed batting and keeping in the nets. He is diligently following a structured fitness routine, as stated in the latest BCCI medical report.

However, it appears that the 25-year-old may miss the 2023 ODI World Cup, having also been absent from this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL). Veteran Indian pacer, Ishant Sharma, shared his perspective on Pant’s comeback, expressing the opinion that the left-handed batter still requires more time to fully recover and may even miss the following year’s IPL.

Ishant Sharma said “I feel we might not see Rishabh Pant in the next IPL as well because it is not a small injury. It was a very serious accident. He has just started batting and wicketkeeping and to run and turn after that, there are a lot of things, which is not easy for a wicketkeeper and a batter.”

Ishant also mentioned that its good that Rishabh Pant didnt have to go for second surgery saying “The good thing is that he didn’t have a second surgery. If he had undergone a second surgery, he would have been out for even longer. He has had one surgery now but I don’t think he will be fit for the World Cup for sure. Hopefully, if he gets fit for the IPL, it will be great.”
