“I like finishing games, I am learning from Rinku” – Tilak Varma ahead of 2nd IND vs AUS T20I.

Team India batter Tilak Varma recently expressed his admiration for Rinku Singh, emphasizing his eagerness to learn the art of finishing games from the seasoned player. Despite a subpar performance in the first T20I against Australia, where Varma scored 12 off 10 balls, he remains confident about showcasing improved skills in upcoming matches.

During the Visakhapatnam match on November 23, Varma’s contribution was overshadowed by Suryakumar Yadav’s exceptional innings of 80 runs off 42 balls. Rinku Singh, however, played a pivotal role, scoring an unbeaten 22 runs off 14 balls to secure India’s victory even as wickets tumbled at the other end.

In a prelude to the second T20I scheduled for Sunday, November 26, at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, Varma shared insights into his learning process from Rinku Singh, referring to him as a proficient finisher.

Tilak Varma said “I like finishing games. I am learning from Rinku. He is doing it very consistently for India. I also want to do [finish games]. I think in coming match I will be doing that.”

The 21-year-old also disclosed his approach to staying engaged in the game when not actively involved in batting or bowling, highlighting the importance of all players contributing their ideas to the team.

“It is important for all 11 players to be involved in a match. All players have their thoughts and they share the same with the captain. It’s up to the captain then to take a decision on the same. So, all the players chip in with their thoughts.”
