“I want to get into the phase I was in before the 2019 World Cup”, says captain Rohit Sharma
In the previous edition of the ODI World Cup, Rohit Sharma, the current captain of the Indian cricket team, showcased remarkable performance. As the tournament’s opener, he accumulated an impressive total of 648 runs in nine matches, securing the position of the tournament’s highest run-scorer. With the next edition of the World Cup on the horizon, Rohit aims to replicate his exceptional form and contribute to India’s pursuit of clinching the championship title. The tournament is scheduled to commence on October 5.
Reflecting on the impending competition, Rohit Sharma reminisced about his relaxed demeanor, optimal physical condition, and positive mindset before the previous World Cup. He intends to draw from these experiences to bolster his approach in the 2023 edition of the tournament. However, the stakes are higher this time as India has not secured an ICC trophy in the last decade. Moreover, the added pressure of playing on home turf intensifies the situation. Recognizing these challenges, Rohit Sharma is committed to thorough mental preparation in anticipation of the upcoming event.
Rohit Sharma said โFor me, it is important how I keep myself relaxed and not worry about external factors that play a role, whether positively or not negatively. I want to shut out everything. I want to get into the phase I was in before the 2019 World Cup.โ
โI was in great frame of mind and prepared really well for the tournament. I was in good shape good mindset. I want to bring that back and I have time to do that. Trying to recollect what were the right things that I was doing before the 2019 World Cup as a cricketer and as a person. I want to revisit that thought-process of mine personally.โ the Indian skipper added.
