“If it’s a 100m six, it should be 10 runs”- Rohit Sharma’s on one thing he like to add in cricket.

Team India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, has proposed an intriguing idea to enhance the excitement of cricket by rewarding big sixes with additional runs. His suggestion revolves around the notion that if a batsman manages to clear the boundary by hitting a six that travels a distance of 90 meters, they should be credited with eight runs. Similarly, for a colossal 100-meter six, the batter should receive ten runs. Rohit Sharma argues that the current practice of awarding six runs for all sixes, regardless of their length, is unjust, particularly for power hitters like Chris Gayle.

Interestingly, Rohit Sharma has earned the moniker ‘Hitman’ due to his exceptional ability to effortlessly strike fours and sixes. He has firmly established himself as one of the most prolific six-hitters in international cricket, ranking second on the all-time list with 551 sixes. Only Chris Gayle, with 553 sixes, surpasses him in this regard.

This innovative proposal was unveiled during Rohit Sharma’s interaction with Vimal Kumar on his YouTube channel. When asked about potential rule changes to make cricket even more captivating, Rohit’s idea of rewarding colossal sixes has undoubtedly sparked a fascinating conversation among cricket enthusiasts and experts.

Rohit Sharma said “If a batter hits a 90m six, it should be 8 runs. If it’s a 100m six, it should be 10 runs. There should be some reward for hitting such sixes that go a long way. Now, whether the ball lands very far or just behind the rope, it’s still six runs.“People like Chris Gayle smash 100m sixes and even Kieron Pollard. We just loft the ball, it goes over the ropes and we get six runs, that’s a bit unfair.”
