“If there is a Virat Kohli of bowling, it is Jasprit Bumrah”: Harbhajan Singh.
Former Indian off-spinner, Harbhajan Singh, expressed his immense joy upon witnessing Jasprit Bumrah’s return to the Indian cricket team and fervently wished for a journey free from injuries in the future. As India prepares for a three-match T20I series against Ireland, cricket enthusiasts eagerly anticipate an enthralling clash scheduled to kick off in Dublin on August 18.
The Indian squad for the upcoming tour comprises 15 members, with Jasprit Bumrah leading the charge. The fast bowler demonstrated remarkable determination during his ten-month road to recovery at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. He endured a strenuous period to regain his form after suffering from a debilitating stress fracture in his back, which had kept him sidelined since September.
Harbhajan Singh said “Jasprit Bumrah has made a comeback. He was injured for a long time and his return was awaited. He has come back and has been made the captain straightaway. Congratulations to Jassi for becoming the captain and foremost for getting fit. I hope and keep my fingers crossed that Jassi doesn’t get injured again.”
Harbhajan Singh emphasized the unique value of the unorthodox yet exceptional paceman in the bowling department, likening Bumrah’s importance to that of Virat Kohli in the batting realm. Notably, Bumrah has amassed an impressive tally of 70 wickets in 60 T20Is, boasting an extraordinary economy rate of 6.62. Despite his inactivity due to back surgery since the previous year’s September, the determined speedster is all set to make a triumphant comeback to the Indian T20I side.
“He has been missed a lot, whether you see the WTC final or the cricket that was played before that. I used to say earlier and am saying it today as well that if we talk about batting, we talk about Virat Kohli, and if there is a Virat Kohli of bowling, it is Jasprit Bumrah. There is no bigger name than him.” Singh added more.
